Epic Scofield 12-5-2020
#1
Decided to join the crowd thos morning and try Scofield to pop my ice fever for this year, was greeted by 6-7" of solid black ice, about 6 trucks at sun up, walked the furthest out from Madison,  1.5" & 2.5" cutterbugs absolutely outfished everything, ended up woth 38 fish by 2pm when I left ot was 50 degrees and zero wind, about 17 trucks at Madison, 50 or so at the dam, all from 8'-22' most were in the 8fow 1 foot off bottom, pics for the contest coming up! [Image: 33482.jpg] [Image: 20201205-133359.jpg] [Image: 20201205-125305.jpg] [Image: 20201205-114125.jpg] [Image: 20201205-102542.jpg] [Image: 20201205-101449.jpg] [Image: 20201205-094816.jpg] [Image: 20201205-093234.jpg] [Image: 20201205-091523.jpg] [Image: 20201205-083028.jpg]

Sweet day on the ice. Be watching for those entries
Remember: keep the lid on the worms, share your jerky, and stop by to say hi to Cookie and the Cowboy-Pirate crew

Thanks for the great report.  No snow around so I'm sure there were no snow machines on the ice but how about ATVs? Or would it be too slick on the black ice for them to even get around?

There was 1 atv on the ice for fishing reasons, then a local just puttering around the edges maybe his first time trying but he didn't venture out to far, a 4 seater side by side pulled up to the edge but turned around... 6-7" of ice i would personally drive on it and not worry but I know some people get a little freaked out.... the ice was loud yesterday to, couple pretty big earthquakes going on out there as well as continuous standard popping

I love being out on new black ice with newbies.  To watch their face when a pop and rumble happens is priceless! Thanks again for the report and update.

Sounds like a great day out ice fishing. Just too bad some of them weren't a bit bigger. Always thought UDWR should transplant some of those Pilot Peak/Pyramid Lake strain of cutthroat into Scofield. IDK, maybe it's too cold, they'd stunt and only reach 15 lbs.

Good ice and no snow sounds like a prefect time to try out my new Snowdog with the air-cooled engine. I put studs in the track last week. It will be an interesting experience I'm sure. I am looking at Tuesday to try it. Only moderately interested in the fishing this trip. If you see a black Snowdog with a couple sleds go by, give me a wave. More than one finger please. Big Grin
Good fishing to all.   Hue
