Fish Finder Wars
#1
Anyone else been watching the latest announcements from the three major sonar companies, Humminbird, German, Lowrance.

Seems like a lot of people have been purchasing Garmin units the past few years, because of LiveScope and PanOptics. And now just before the Holidays someone leaks news of a New Humminbird Live unit that will be available next year. Was it really a leak or a marketing ploy to let people know that there will be something new on its way, before they purchase a Garmin for Christmas. And then Lowrance makes an announcement that you can start pre ordering their new ActiveTarget live unit, that will be available very soon.

Personally I’m going to wait for the dust to settle, and the bugs get worked out of the new units. I will probably be in the market for a Live unit about this time next year, if I start saving my pennies now.

What are your thoughts about all the excitement.

I just moved up to a discontinued H'Bird Helix on closeout sale for my new boat. My kayak never had anything more sophisticated than a small sonar unit with down imaging. It's going to take me a while to figure out side imaging and mapping much less all that live scope wizardry. Plus, I don't really want to spend half the cost of the boat on a fish finder.
