Downrigger Weight
#1
I've been looking at this newer style of downrigger weight called the Z-Wing. Its not near as heavy as what I or most others use but its enough to get the curiosity started. Never have seen one used or know of anyone using it and don't know how new it is to the market. The larger of the 2 states its for slower trolling speeds and the angle appears far less than the weight used in illustration. I would think the signature on the sonar would be larger than the normal weights I use. Its is tempting to me to at least get one just to try but I would like to know more about this. Lead weights have become very expensive in recent years which puts them in the cost category as the Z-Wing. My current weights are fish style, pancake, and stick weights which all are 8lb each. Does anyone have one of these Z-Wings or have an opinion about?

I have never heard of them so went to Google
looks like someone in the 80's made them for fast trolling in the salt water

Go to how it works and faq
https://zwingdownrigger.com/pages/using-the-zwing

if you want to reach 20ft depth let out approximately 25′ of line

The Zwing 150 – The lighter 1.5 lb. wing. Performs best at faster speeds (5 knots and above) The Zwing 350 – The heavier 3.5 lb. wing. Performs at all speeds, and will perform better at slower speeds.

I have enough weights, I paid $20ea for my pancake weights, they are steel. Have about 16 weights total. I saw how the Z-Wing works. I was looking to see if anyone has one or ever used one.
