Willard morning today Thurs
#1
Hit Willard for about four hours this morning. Lines in the water just before 8am
2 walleye in
The boat in first 10 minutes ran back thru same area Nada, picked up two wipers in the next hour.
Decided to move around picked up another walleye then nothing moved again another walleye
Moved again picked up one more. Hit the first spot again for as bit no
Luck
Ended up
With 5 walleye 3 nice chunks and 2 other good ones. One small wiper and one about 2.5 lbs.
Had to head to get ready for Montana trip.
7 fish total in 4 hours. Thinking early bite may have been better.
Trolling cranks 2.0-2-1 in 11 to 12 feet deep.

Thanks for the report, sounds like you are having a great start to this years walleye/ wiper season. Do you mind sharing what colors or pattern of lures you are using?

My son and I were out this morning as well, fishing by 8:30 had our walleye limits by 11 after culling a few.

Hey Pete, way to go on the eyes, were you trolling cranks or bottom bouncing?

What I meant was, did you catch more eyes on the cranks you were trolling or more on the worm harness? Just curious if one did better than the other. Last time I was out there last Sunday I caught more on worm harnesses than I did on cranks but I'm hearing that has changed.

More on the cranks, 3 poles VS 1 pole.

OK, thanks, last week we were trolling three crank rods and only one harness rod and harness rod caught them 4 to one.

Sorry for delay just got back from chasing some trout in Montana in between snow and rain squalls. Weather tough but fun trip!
At Willard the usuall lures shad raps, flicker shad , rattle traps variety of colors
From blue, silver to fire tiger depending on the day. Deeper running worked better last trip , trip before caught a bunch suspended.
Here’s some trout pics a number like these caught all still
Swimming. Now time to get back in the walleyes! Maybe tomorrow, a couple lakes are calling my name!
