Got to Fish When you Can
#1
Been wanting to fish really bad this last week and it was always one thing after another that kept me away... Well, I got my field worked down ready to plant and didn't have any seed, so Saturday about 6:30 PM I decided I was going to go fish... Well, the wind was blowing a bit when I took off from home... Got to the marina and it was 18 mph, but all the sane folks had gotten off the water so there were no lines at the ramp, so I figured you got to go when you can... Launched and headed out to an area that was somewhat sheltered so at least there wasn't any whitecaps in there... Casted out and all be danged if I didn't get a bite, it was a bullhead, but at least I wasn't skunked... Kept after it until 8:00 and ended up with 5 more bullheads and one channel... Not really worth a post, but since I don't get out often enough I posted anyway... Did see one unusual occurrence that I'm not sure how to explain this...  So the wind was blowing from the north, I would cast out my bobber which was suspending my worm just off the bottom and every time the bobber would go north, my line would go south with the wind as expected, but the bobber would go the wrong way.  "There typically isn't any current in this area, but I can't explain this any other way.  What I guessed is the wind was pushing the bulk of the water and waves south, so I guessed that the water was having to return to where it was blown away from, so I suspected there must have been a current that was carrying my bobber opposite to what I'd expect.  My boat acted like you would expect in the wind being pushed towards the south, but I thought this was really odd to have my bobber going the wrong direction in the waves...  Can anyone confirm my guess?  Oh and no there wasn't a fish on taking the line up wind...  Later J

Sounds like a seiche and in the shallow water of Cutler it can happen a lot faster than bigger bodies of deep water. This is also corroborated by the wind blowing that day.
