Big Lost River
#1
FISHING: Good
CLOSED Opening Day - May 29th

This is our only true warm water fishery in the area. Bluegill, Bass and a small variety of other sunfishes call this body of water home. Bank fishing with streamers and small nymphs is common here, as well as some float tubing opportunities, but a canoe is the best way to fish this. Anglers can cruise around sampling different depths, and structures in a boat. Try the mouths of the hot springs until day time temperatures warm the water enough to disperse the fish. A floating line and a variety of fly colors is all that's necessary. For you birders out there, Carey Lake is a major nesting area in the spring for a variety of species, and the canoe float alone, is worth the trip.
