Angler Note: The catfish limit is four fish on Lower Lake Mary, Sante Fe and City reservoirs. With the warmer conditions trout fishing will slow while catfish fishing will pick up.

WILLIAMS LAKES:

KAIBAB LAKE — Water level is very low. Some catfish were caught in the evenings.

CATARACT LAKE — Will be stocked this week if the water quality is okay. Fishing was excellent for trout. Anglers are also catching black crappie on pink and white jigs.

CITY RESERVOIR — Fishing was good for trout.

DOGTOWN LAKE — Scheduled to be stocked this week. Fishing was fair on worms and Power Bait. The campground is open.

WHITEHORSE LAKE — An individual using two traps baited with chicken livers and sandiness caught 380 crayfish after setting out the traps four times in about 25 feet from shore. Fishing was slow. Stocking has been canceled because of high water temperatures. There are lots of crayfish here, so catch, keep and eat all you can.

JD DAM — Some fish are being caught on wooly worms and bead headed midges.

SANTA FE — The City of Williams is pulling water from the lake. Remember, the catfish limit is four on this lake.

FLAGSTAFF LAKES:

LOWER LAKE MARY — A minor fish die-off has occurred

UPPER LAKE MARY — Water level is good. Try for walleye at first and last light. Trolling can be effective. There is a health advisory here. Mercury has been detected in the fish. Do not eat the walleye or more then 8 ounces (uncooked weight) of any fish caught.

ASHURST LAKE — The scheduled stocking this week has been canceled because of poor water quality readings near the shore. Trout fishing is still fair to good with some larger fish being caught in the deeper areas. Trout were being caught on the rocky shorelines on corn, and any color of Power Bait.

KINNIKINICK LAKE — Stocked last week. Anglers report that catfishing has been good in the evenings on chicken liver. Large numbers of channel catfish were caught during a recent fish survey.

OAK CREEK — Scheduled to be stocked weekly. No reports from anglers

LONG LAKE — Lake is dry.

SOLDIERS & SOLDIERS ANNEX — Soldiers Lake is full and Soldiers Annex has water. There is a health advisory: do not eat fish from these lakes because Mercury has been detected.

BEAVER CREEK — No report.

WEST CLEAR CREEK — No report.

STONEMAN LAKE — Water level is too low for stocking.

BLUE RIDGE — Fishing was fair over the weekend. Fish deep beneath the algae bloom; fish are holding at around 12 feet deep.

KNOLL LAKE — Fishing was good to excellent over the weekend. All colors of Power Bait seemed to be working equally well.

MINGUS LAKE — Due to be stocked with rainbow trout this week pending water temperatures.

DEAD HORSE STATE PARK — No reports. Trout stocking is to begin the first week in November, with bluegill and catfish stockings be scheduled for later this month.

LYNX LAKE — Stocked Aug. 12 with about 280 2- to 3-pound channel catfish. Rainbow trout fishing has been slow. The next scheduled stocking is in September due to warm surface water temperatures.

FAIN LAKE — Was stocked Aug. 12 with about 100 channel catfish in the 2- to 3-pound range. Trout fishing is slow. The next scheduled trout stocking is in September due to warm surface water temperatures. The lake is open for fishing from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

VERDE RIVER — No new reports. Bass fishing was tough last week due to monsoon storms and muddy water. Conditions should improve this week as the water clears. Small jigs and spinners were working well in riffles and below for catching small to medium sized smallmouth and largemouth.

GOLDWATER LAKE —Trout fishing over the weekend was slow. Stocking has been suspended due to warm water temperatures. Stocking should resume next week if temperatures remain cool enough. There are still reports of some large sunfish being caught and a 4-pound largemouth bass was recently caught on a Mepps spinner. This is still a great place to take the kids fishing.
