Henry's Lake
#1
I hit the lake at 8:20 around the hatchery. It was cold, cold, cold with almost blizzard conditions. The cold must have frozen my brain because I became impatient after only catching a 12" cut in the first hour so I made a large loop further out into the lake. By the time I got back to my hole there was a boat and a couple of toons in my spot reeling in the fish at will. I found a spot 50 yards to the east and also started catching fish. I used a light olive crystal bugger with a type III sinking line. I was using a lightning fast strip. I ended up catching a three cuts 20", 12" and the smallest fish I have ever caught at Henry's an 8" cut. I also landed three fifteen inch brookies. The males were incredibly beautiful. If you have never seen a Henry's lake brookie in its spawning colors it is a true treasure and worth the cold trip.

Thanks for the report. I love to catch brook trout out of henry's but I would say that less than 5% of the fish that I have caught there are brook trout.
