Strawberry Repot/ 4-1-05

Hit the Berry today and it was the best day I have had up there this year. We iced about 20 fish, with several rainbows. We were using paddle bugs and whatta crickets with minnows and wax worms. We caught about half on the bottom and half about 6-8 feet off the bottom. We had a couple of times where the action was fast and then it slowed at about noon and picked up again at 2pm. My friend caught a 24 inch fat cutthroat. It was huge and fought pretty good. He let it go but we snapped some picutres. I will post them when sends them to me. He had the entire bay to ourselves, not one person in view, sun was out and we were in short sleeve shirts. Ice is still about 2 feet thick with about a foot of snow on top. It stayed pretty hard all day. You would sink in a couple inches l, but no slush. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I am sure as it continues to warm it will get slushy.

We went to Mosquito Bay. Got to thank fishungry for the tip. We parked at the dry storage. Hopefully the snow stays a little crusty for you to walk on. I had snow shoes which made it nice, but my friend didn't and he was fine. Once in a while he would sink down a bit but it was worth going there. Like I said before, we could not see another soul in site. We moved about three times. You will see our tracks because they are the only ones there. Good Luck. Let us know how it goes
