Backing and line

i have not fly fished in over a year, but i got a new reel for christmas last year. i have an abu garcia 6wt rod and want a 6wt WF line. how much backing should i put on and wheres a good place to buy it?

When you buy your line and backing, the shop should put it on for you and tie the knots all for free, if not they are doing you a disservice,therefore you should not have to worry how much to put on. If you have it and are trying to do it yourself,the amount of backing varies with every reel and every line. Usually 50 yrds of backing works on 6 wt. lines.
