Not sure if it is the same thing.....

I have a friend that ties a Platinum cased caddis.

size 14 or 16 strait shank nymph hook
silver bead
silver wire
very light hares ear dubbing
synthetic pearl dubbing

tie in your wire at the back of the hook.
Make a mixture of 3/4 light hares ear and 1/4 pearl dubbing,
taper the dubbing toward the head.
rib the dubbing with the wire.
tie it off.

Very easy tie and deadly on the local river. Especially the weber.

In an 18 it has been one of the best flies on the weber.

Someone at Sunset Sport Center (in Bountiful) taught me that fly when I was 11. Of course it didn't have a bead because beads weren't in the picture then. I don't recall who he said originated it...but I was 11. I was lucky to rememember how to tie it!

It wasn't Mike Andreason was it?

I have caught fish on it but I haven't fished it in a lot of years.
