Tight Lines: Fly Fishing Film Tour has Star-Studded Casts
#1
Ready for your annual dose of angling desire? The boys from the Angling Exploration Group are back with the 2008 Fly Fishing Film Tour.

It hits Salt Lake City, and only the capital city this year due to a tight schedule, March 3 at the Tower Theatre. The original tour consisted of a showing of "Trout Bum Diaries Volume I: Patagonia" three years ago. Last year it expanded to include a long teaser of "Trout Bum Diaries Volume II: Kiwi Camo" and a variety of other fly-fishing films.

The 2008 tour will feature a teaser of "Fish Bum I: Mongolia - River Wolf" and parts of, or entire features, of seven other films, including: "Equilibrium," "Reel Time," "River Poets," "Fishizzle," "4 Seasons of Steelhead," "Slovenia" and "Red Gold."

You will notice AEG has changed the themed title from "Trout Bums" to "Fish Bums." The change was made to allow the team to expand its horizons and pursue other species with fly rods.

Also new to the "Fish Bum" scene, at least the on-film team, is Utah native Thad Robison. He joined the others for a 62-day trip to Mongolia in pursuit of the legendary taimen.

Robison, who also serves as the Fly Fishing Film Tour manager, says attendees will notice a little more of an environmental tone in the tour.

"There will be a little bit different flavor to this year's tour. People will still get their fish porn, but there is an undertone regarding the Pebble Mine threat in Alaska," Robison said. "We felt it was important to get information out about the threat to this sensitive fishery."

Those unable to attend the AEG tour will get another chance to take in their overdose of lusting after big fish and exotic locales on May 1 when the First Annual Wasatch Fly Fishing Film Festival is held as part of the Wasatch Fly Tying Expo. The Wasatch Festival is scheduled to include up to seven flicks.
