Grand Isle Offshore happenings!
#1
Snapper season is open and in full swing. Got an interesting report from the past weekend. Todd Wiese was fishing out of Grand Isle hunting for some red snapper to put in the freezer. And he got more than he was looking for.

There was a tangle in his line well up from his bait so he didn't want to discard all that line off of his reel. So he cut the tangle out and was trying to retie the two ends back together when it hit.

He had the line wrapped around his hand, no glove! Well this fish was pretty big and the line started digging in to his hand. As the fish would start a hard pull he would yell cut it, cut it. Then the fish would let up a bit and he would yell wait, wait. This happened over and over but the line was never cut.

Eventually he was able to haul in an approximately 30 pound red snapper. [Image: eek.gif] What are the chances of that happenening. I guess pretty high if you know anything about Murphys law.

But the offshore story doesn't end at snapper. Numerous other species are cooperating as well. Tuna continue to be caught in good numbers if you can find them. Lemonfish (cobia, ling) are on a real good bite now with even reports of double digit catches beginning to show up. So basically wait for some good weather and go fishing.
