Leigh pontoon boat
#1
Does anyone know where I might find some replacement bladders for an 8' Leigh pontoon boat? I bought the boat a few years ago from SW and the bladders have leaked all along. I took one back and they replaced it, but it leaked to.
The pontoons are made out of truck inner tubes that have been cut and glued back together in the approximate shape of the pontoon. The leaks have all come from the glued sections.
The company that made the boat has since gone out of business ( hard to believe ) . The valves on the bladders are located in the center of the bladder.

[cool]Hey, Bro. Glad to see you got registered and found your way over to us from the Utah board.

For the benefit of our helpful readers, we have already discussed possible means of repair, and he has tried several times, unsuccessfully, to fix the leaking air chambers.

These air chambers were patchwork put-togethers, made from truck tire inner tubes. My suggestion was to try to find some new lightweight urethane or vinyl bladders that would fit the contours of his craft...a similar one is pictured below.

Does anyone know where replacement bladders for the original model might be located...or a source of other bladders that might fit? The manufacturer was Leigh Outdoor Products of Bountiful, Utah.

[black]The Leigh boat operation was purchased, and changed to Venture. Venture currently will supply pontoons for the Leigh frame. They are a much better product that was made by Leigh. Here is a web site for Venture in Brigham City.[/black]

[black]Go to the one web site, and hit "retrofits" for the info on the Leigh boats.[/black]

Is Carol still operating it? I met a gal with the Walmart ECHO last weekend. She loved it and wanted one like mine so I told her to get a hold of Venture outdoors and Carol Olsen.

[black]As far as I know, Carol is still running the show.[/black]

There was a change in their web page about a month ago, and the direction for contacting them by E-mail, was for Carol, so I just assume that everything is the same.

Did you see on their web site, that new hard sided line of boats?

Yes, She showed them to me when I picked up our Echo. That is what this gal had and she wanted the inflateables like we have for transporting more of them. She loved it!

Are you the guy from Logan I talked to last Saturday at Daniels?
Saberfish and FG gave you the right scoop. Sometimes Carol's email
"spamware" will keep her from getting it.

I just talked to creek company regarding a replacement bladder, they have 8ft - 16-inch bladders for under $40, I'd check the measurements closely however.
