Echo 1-16
#1
Went to Echo this morning to see what might be happening there. Cold was happening, but that was good because you could walk out on to the ice with out falling through near the shore.
I arrived at 7:30 and was on the ice by 8:00 drilled one hole and just dropped a jig down it to see what might be down there. Before I got to the bottom a very fat rainbow took my offering and the fight was on. I tossed him on the ice and tossed the jig down again. Nothing this time. I drilled the hole for my fish finder and found the bottom at 47 feet. Immediately started marking fish. Most all were coming through at 25 to 35 feet.. Drilled the hole for my second pole and put a worm on thinking that maybe there would be some perch come by.. That did not happen.
I marked fish all morning in that 25 to 35 foot range. An 18 inch Brown found his way over to me along with some other rainbows that made the morning a great outing.
Left at 11:00, Honey- dos were calling.

Thanks for the report,
I've never fished echo through the ice before and after reading numerous reports I think I'll do a quick trip Saturday. Did you fish closer to the Dam? Where would you recommend a try? Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks again[fishin]

There's been a few groups fishing near the dam but most folks fish close to the boat ramp. I've fished it a few times this season just south of the boat ramp about a 1/4 of a mile. The fishing for me was the best near the shore in about 25 feet of water with the fish coming in waves.

I don't have a fish finder so I'm kinda at a diSadvantage.

3 of us fished up nearer the dam yesterday with similar experiences - trout only, and in sporadic waves. We were in 40 feet of water with the fish about 25 feet down. It was a little slow, but at least the skunk man didn't show up.

I went out south from the 2nd pull out from the dam.
I have had my best luck with a white or green jig tipped with bait. I have had better success when a did not move it to much.
