Jmax, chick, Another good day., Bass, 06/27/09, solo
#1
Could not decide if I wanted to go this morning. Wink After last night I felt pretty fished out. I woke up at 4:30 so I thought,"What the heck." Got to the lake at 5 a.m. and started drowning a t-rigged worm. Boated a couple slick but could not get a good bite on a worm in the dark. Right at daybreak I switched to a spook and boated five with two decent keepers on rock banks close to deep water.

At 6:30 I moved to some grass edges in about 5 to 7 feet and found some good ones. I boated about ten but only three keepers. Two were nice 2.5 lbers. emoThumbsup Switched back to the spook and started fishing grass flats. The fish were in the grass and came up well hitting the spook. Had seven more on the spook and three would keep, anchored by big fish of the day at 3 lbs and 12 ozes. The spook bite died so I headed for the river in search of some deeper bass.

Sticking to ledges and edges along the river I went in search of some good ones. After antman spanked me last night on the jig and pig I decided to try it again. emoScratch He had given me one of his secret ones so I had to use it carefully not to loose it. emoBigSmile I think I may have got the hang of it. I boated two more three lbers, a couple more 2 lb keepers and several spots. Had some fun doing that. Hit four drop ledges and pulled bass off every one. I got to get me some of those type jigs. emoApplause

At that point it was getting to be about 10:30 and already the play boats were out in force. Headed for the wolf and fished in there for an hour. Only caught one slick in there.

I left at 11:30 with 37 bass in the boat and 14 keeper LMs and did not count the spots. Best five would have gone about 15 lbs. emoThumbsup I tried several baits today but the only three baits I caught fish on was the texas rigged worm, the spook and the pig and jig. Caught fish from two foot to 34 feet. Good morning on the water. emoDance I never picked up the drop shot today, I knew once I started I would have a hard time putting it down. The problem I am having with the drop shot is you can catch a boat load of bass on it but they run small.

C-ya out there, emoSun Jmax
