Daniel, There are a lot of places in Oregon to fish right now. Coastal rivers from Yaquina Bay (Newport) to the Columbia is my forte. Right now the Salmon ( North of Lincoln City) and the Nestucca ( Pacific City ) are two that I know are producing fish and have public access, if you don't mind combat fishing. Yaquina bay should be producing by now but I haven't heard yet. Usually by the time you hear anything it's two weeks too late. I hear that the Clackamas has been producing Silvers and a few Chinook. I don't know what you've tried but hear are a few tried and true producers. Spinners are always a good bet. I like #5 or #6 hammered Colorado blades in Gold for cloudy days Silver for sunshine. When the water is warm and fish won't bite sometimes this method is best. I have for the most part been a bait fisherman. In the ocean or bays I troll plug cut herring. Killed em on the Columbia. In the deeper holes a bobber with sand shrimp and eggs has been the best producer for me. However this year I have caught more fish in the rivers with hardware. And last of all the mighty Alvin. It's like a small dodger that's a lure in itself. It consistently produces fish for me. Try running one through your favorite deep hole....Slowly. I fish one with a 2oz. cannonball in front of a 4' to 5' leader. You want to reel just fast enough to make the lure wobble back and forth, but not spin all the way around. Good luck, Bill.
