[cool]I know there are a few other folks on the board who tinker with making or customizing their own jigs and other lures. I just found a great new source for some glitter colors that I haven't been able to find on any of the usual sources of fishing tackle and paints. After hunting fruitlessly for some of the "HOT" colors...for Perch Urchins and jig heads...I found a company called Rustic Escentuals. They provide lots of supplies for the candle making industry, but their glitters will work just as well for us fisherfolk. Their website address is: http://rusticescentuals.com/
Here are some of the first colors I ordered, to try them. They have over thirty different colors...including glow in the dark.
I have been using many of the standard glitters for several years. I use a lot of silver, gold, bronze, metallic greens and blues, some red, etc. I also mix in ultraviolet crystal flakes and some rainbow colors on a lot of the silver applications. And a few flecks of red and green can dress up a gold glitter lure or jig.
I am attaching a short writeup I did on glitter painting, for anyone who might want to give this stuff a try. PM or email me if you want any specific help on playing with glitter...or other paints.
