Road to Seven Devils? (near Riggins)
#1
Has anyone on here been up to Seven Devils lake, southwest of Riggins, in the past couple of years?

I'm thinking about a summer trip to the higher elevations to escape the heat, but wonder about the general condition of the road. I'll be hauling a heavy slide-in camper to use as a 'basecamp' for daytime hiking trips to the various back-country lakes. But if the road is too soft, rutted, gooey, etc. -- I may think twice about hauling the camper up there. I know it's going to be a steep climb from Riggins based strictly on elevation differences.

Anyway, if someone wouldn't mind sharing their experiences, it would be much appreciated.

The road is generally in pretty decent shape in the summer. The first mile or so after the asphalt is washboarded. It is a steep road all of the way to the top. Watch out for the granollas hauling butt down hill in their Subarus.
