Just wonderin, if I am fishing off shore, what environment am I lookin for to score THE BIG BASS? What kind of bait should I be using, also what hook works best. I've mostly been using Treble Hooks, any other recommendations?

Hi Cameron23. It's been hot lately in my area so I've been finding most of the large bass either on the drop-offs close to shallow dense cover (like moss or lilly pads) or way under that cover. If you're finding a lot of moss or weeds, try plunking a jig or worm in the holes.
If you're finding some drop offs, I've had a little luck using deep diving crank baits. I typically go with a white or chrome finish if there's shad in your area.
When it gets to be afternoon, the bass should start moving shallow again and would be a great time to try out a popper or buzzbait for some topwater action. That's been working great for me lately.

I need a NEWBIE translation for the types of bait you mentioned.
