Well I guess you could say we had a good night. Jeff and I started on a big grass flat and I missed a couple good bites because the wind was drifting us toward my bait and it was hard to keep a tight line. I spun the boat around and started throwing into the wind and quickly found out I was getting bit by small fish. emoBang Trolled all the way back to a shallow hump and Jeff hooks a solid 5lber. Nothing else there so we ran upriver and fished all the usual stuff. It seemed like everyone was running alot but we stayed slow and picked several grass beds apart catching a good one here and there. We were both fishing worms of different sizes and colors. There wasnt one that really worked best. At 1am we had 3 fish that would go about 11.5 to 12lbs and needed two more. We went back to spot number one and Jeff hooked another good one and shortly after I chunked a 1/2 oz shakey head with a creature bait off the drop into some rocky stuff and stuck a little 3lber. I thought it was alot bigger because he almost yanked the rod out of my hand! We ended up with 17.91 which was good enough for first place and the big fish for the night was 5.98 I think. I hoped everyone didnt catch quality fish like we did with all the running around. Seemed like a well run event and I would not hesitate to fish another open event with them. I think 15 something won second and Im not sure about the rest they paid four places with 27 boats. Nice night to fish and a nice pay day for us. I will say Jeff and I didnt get that many bites but we got the ones that counted. emoParty
