I'm addicted to bass fishing. I need help. I haven't seen my dry fly box in almost a year. My poor 5 weight hasn't seen the light of day in just as long. My fly tying vise hasn't seen a hook smaller than a 2 in months and months. I don't know if I even remember how to get to the Provo.

I made a two hour drive out of SLC to a nifty little spot (can't say the name, I'm sworn to secrecy - although everyone here knows about it) and launched my pontoon. Olive/Green Senko's were on the menu it seemed, along with white/chartreuse spinner baits and buzz baits. I threw flies all day long as well, but couldn't piss a drop with poppers, streamers, deceivers, etc. All in all, it was a good day and I brought 20 Large Mouth's to the boat. I was kicking my way back to the car and decided that I would tie on a brown woven Larva Lace wooly bugger. I was 20 feet from the dock and not even paying attention when I went to reel my fly line in... whammo! Biggest and best fish of the day, which turned out to be the biggest LMB to date -- on a fly that I tied as an after-thought with scraps of left over materials. Boo ya.

I didn't even SEE another species. My buddy saw a few bluegill, but I didn't see squat. I really wanted to add the T to my list of fish caught on the fly... Ah well.

To get the t's to hit you need a fly that looks like a Pea !! Kind of like the Corn Fly used on Golden Polish trout !!

I was thinking about going there LOL. I was worried about that long dirt road though. How snowed in is it? Would a sedan, all season tires make it right now? I don't want to drive two hours and then not be able to go off the highway haha. Also, how was the safety aspect? No break ins right? lol I want to catch a giant 12lb T lol. Heard from a fella they are in there. But yeah good job on the anorexic 20" Still nice anyhow.

Well, my Chick-Magnet Prius made the drive just fine. Beware of the washboard -- it isn't even really washboard, it's more like a series of 10,000,000 giant trough's. Biggest and baddest washboard I've ever seen. Seriously. But your car should do fine. The only iffy part was at the parking lot. Just make sure you park on a semi-dry spot and you'll be fine. As for the safety aspect, I had no idea there was any issue out there. You're the second person to mention it, and all of a sudden I feel stupid for just leaving my car all alone and in the open. I can't imagine people would actually drive all the way out there -- it is a decent drive on crappy roads -- just to break into a car. They'd have to stake the place out pretty well in order to find a mark. It IS out in the middle of nowhere, after all. In fact, I had a decent birds eye view of my car the entire time, so they'd have to be pretty sneaky to get in.

As for the T's, there were some divers there and they said that there were millions of fish in the deeps, and some of them were giants.

That's good to hear. I just keep hearing about break ins on this forum lol. It seems safe when I went there. Wow that is good to hear that there's no snow there. Went somewhere in that direction yesterday and barely made it out. Not a foot deep but at least 7 inch of snow.

TBD I have the same problem been watching bass vids on youtube for months now and buying ridiculous amounts of tackle. This all started last spring and has got out of control! Sure is fun though!

My name is also Dave. And I too am addicted to bassahol. As some anticipate the ice season I anticipate ice off. I find myself going places that some might know throughout the winter months. And I also collect tackle and watch videos look at maps and read articles. Nice work on those bass out there. Looks like a great time and leaves me needing a bass fix. Looks like I may have to try your "secret spot". I'll keep it a secret.

Cured my own bass addiction lately with two lmb over 20" since Jan 1. This one was the first at 20 1/4" 5lbs 11oz. Caught her back during that inversion stretch when it was only like 15 degrees in the daytime at most. Fingers stuck to reel each time I opened the bail. Damn it was brutal. It might have been 10 degrees when I was fishing. Caught her at lake Katchabigun lol. Been fishing it all winter and it was fairly slow this winter compared to most.

Heh, it's not secret at all, but it's all good. I'm headed to Sand Hallow in a few days to get another fix. It'll be cold, but I'm anticipating the fishing to be hot.

Oh wow, you are a true addict! Sand hollow's a bit on the far side for me even haha. Newton in the bedding season is as far as I get usually. 100 miles is about max that I have the patience to drive to lol. I've taken a trip to yuba and also that place filled with T but not many times lol. It won't be long before they bed up down there lol. You can probably find small ponds in that area that have pre spawn bass in the shallows about ready to bed.
