Another chance to make a report from Wolftever Creek. I fished for almost 5 hours today and caught somewhere between 27-30 crappie. My trip started off very slow as my "fishing the flats" pattern just wasn't working quite as well this time. It did get better later. Water temperature was down 4-5 degress as it started out at 55 and struggled to top out at 56. I caught my first few fish on a chartreuse / black Charlie Brewer slider grub but I just managed about 8 fish my first couple of hours. I went and fished a blow down not far from there and caught three off of it with two nice keepers. I also lost something huge - a drum or cat I guess ? I was almost going to leave the creek but decided to see if something had changed back where I had my good luck recently. Bingo - I started catching fish after fish. I caught crappie on four casts in a row and caught about 15 in 45 minutes and almost all of them were keepers. I caught all of them on a 1/32 oz. BG MO Glo Ghost Scent Wiggl'r. Once again I matched my jig head with the jig color. It's just something new I've been trying. I noticed some shad working around the surface as the water was like glass. I'm not really sure what got the crappie going but I'm glad I stuck around. I lost quite a few fish on the 1/32 oz. I guess because of the small hook but I sure wasn't going to change. I caught a "very" nice broad black crappie in the bunch also. Here's a few pics...
