Navigating the river with a trolling motor
#1
I've got a new 16ft Aluaweld Talon with a 90hr jet. I plan on using it on the South Fork of the Snake. My question is can you navigate (steer) the boat floating down stream with the trolling motor alone? I have been looking at a 55 thrust transom mount. Would that have enough guts? I was trying to stick to a 12 volt system.

i would say yes but i would go with a bow mount trolling motor for two reasons one is the easy to use while fishing with a bow mount because you use them with your feet so your hands are free to fish also and the other reason is i think the motor being in the front of the boat makes boat easy to stear and being in front of the boat you can see whats coming better like rocks and stuff
