Lovetofish (Ricky) and I got an early start this morning in search of the elusive crappie. We had 10 keepers out of about 30 fish. Again, about a 2:1 ratio of non-keepers to keepers. Ricky landed the largest at 13.5 inches. We thought it was a TARP at first. He was a big broad fish, but alas, it was 1/2 inch short. My biggest one was about 12 inches.

We fished docks early, then searched for some crappie hotels that I had put out, but with the wind being what it was (7 mph predicted that got to about 17 mph) I could only get close to them and not exactly on them. Didn't see any fish around 1 of them, but there were fish in the area of the 2nd one.

Fish were mostly deep. We caught some on docks, but most on off shore structure. The wind got up pretty bad and it was from the NW and with the blue skies overhead and the cold front conditions, the fish just shut off at 10:30. We fished until almost 12 before we gave it up.

I enjoyed fishing with you today, Ricky. We will do this again on a better bite day. emoBig emoGeezer
