*UL ice

Was in Provo this morning so drove down to the Provo harbor to have a looksee. Ice is retreating all right but not fast enough to suit this old fart. There was maybe 50 yd, of open water north of the north jetty that narrowed some toward the end. Interesting ice piles at the outer ends of the dikes. Maybe 6-8 ft. above the water level. Didn't see any fisher types and, since the wife and mother in law were along, I didn't fish either.

Lots of open water at Lincoln beach. Could a launched and fished the springs. Fished the lava field and inside the harbor. One slugish hit that pulled my curly tail down my job. Guessing it was a white bass.

I fished in the Lindon Harbor this evening a bit, caught 6 whities off the slips. Conditions there were very similar to those that Geezer described at the Provo harbor. Did have one hit on a chunk of fresh whitie, but no whiskers came to hand.

Sounds like Lincoln is ready for the armada.

I was at Lincoln Beach last night. Some flow ice in area, but with the wind howling last night and this morning I expect it (the ice flows) will be gone. The launch area which normally stays iced over a week after the lake is open because it is protected from the winds is open so walleye bob with his blue maru will not have to be the ice breaker this year saving the Maru's hull from further damage.
I intend to launch tomorrow if the winds subside and indeed, it will begin.
The lake continues to be about two feet low with some nasty looking structure sticking up off the orchards. This mornings report indicated that the lake is about 75% full (to comprimise level) Take care out there.

1 march edit: The ice is gone from the south end of the lake.

I give it till next week for the whole lake to be open. Looks like most of it is just a thin rotten ice sheet but by af harbor and pump house got the last parts of ice. Pretty sure this terrible harsh wind shred a lot of ice while driving to fish lake today. Car was rocking right a lot. Not a fun drive for sure.

Traitionally, Utah lake is ice free by 17th of March, so depending on the wind, your prediction of next week might be early, but possible!!

It will definitely fill but won't stay full probably a replay of last year.

Hey Muddguy, if you hit the lake on a Saturday or Sunday and would like some company, give me a holler. I'd love to get out on a boat.[angelic]

Guess that depends on what you consider full. It has a loooong ways to go to fill up to what I would consider full.
