Up at school in rexburg and want a good lake
#1
Whats up everyone?
I just got up here to Rexburg for some schooling, and I really got to get onto several lakes before the winter comes. What are the best lakes to fish at around here. I have never really been into fly fishing, usually bait casting off of a kayak or something

I heard Mud Lake was pretty good. Has anyone had any luck there recently?

anyways just wanted to touch base with everyone.

Any info would be extremely appreciated.

Mud Lake hasn't had a good report on it for about 6 years now. However around here there are a lot of option, especially if you open up to the rivers as well. Blacktail/Ririe Res. is good for bass, kokanee and trout year round. down side is its $3 during the week and $5 on weekends and holidays to access. Henry's Fork along the snake is good. Traditionally fly water but lures have also been good to me a lot of the time. The South Fork of the Snake is the one most talked about locally. Its bigger but there should be better walk in access now that the season is winding down. Teton river is popular for many around Rexburg. Someone here should be able to fill you in. If you want to go a little further there is PaliSades, Island Park Res and of course Henry's Lake which should be getting very good in the coming weeks. I'm sure others have a few recommendations as well.

For bigger fish go to island park or Henry's. If stockers are ok go to Rigby Lake.
