I got out today with 3 gentlemen wanting to have some fun catching some fish and also to finally get a break from all of the snow and extreme cold temps they have been dealing with north of here. I was a little sceptical about how the fishing was going to be at first with the front that came in yesterday, but after our first stop and all of the stops after that my questions about how the fish were going to react were answered, especially after these guys started out with a nice double. We got on some nice quality fish in each area we went to and the only thing different today compared to the last couple of weeks was we downsized our Rat-L-Trap selection to mostly 1/2-3/4 oz. sizes. The fish we were able to get came in areas with the same depth as before, from 8-10 ft. and the surface temp averaged 41-42 degrees. It seemed that the smaller profile was the ticket today and that could have been because we could work them a little slower. It was rainy, windy, and cold, but the fish had no problem making us forget about our numbing fingers. We caught a lot of good fish today and the numbers were suprising, but it goes to show that this time of year you can never tell what the weather will hand you, but I can bet the fish can make you forget about it. Get out and have fun, Mike Carter
