Crappie-est day ever - who'da thought?
#1
With the upcoming ill weather forecast for later this week, Jil managed to swap her off Friday for Tuesday so we could make run to Willard to see if we could get some walleye and just maybe a crappie or two. Never realized so many others were going to have a similar plan. Saw several BFT-ers had arrived before us but we kept our distance so we wouldn't upset their hot spots or wave-wash them in their toons - in 1 1/2 hours we had our limit of nice sized crappies - all caught on planer boards, all but 1 were on blue/orange Clackin' Crank Rapalas. We then switched over to bottom bouncing and trolled different areas - managed only 1 walleye and 2 wipers but at least we had a chance to eat lunch! The water was wonderfully calm - could have spent the whole day just enjoying a slow troll... Cleaning station was packed - so we did all our cleaning at home. Turned out to be a great day - glad Jil was able to swap days off....

Glad we could be a part of it - wont be able to get out again until the 1st week in May - and who knows what will be hot by then... today was just a sweet day all-around.
