#1
Has anybody fished around kingfisher island or hideout up at the gorge lately. Looking for fishing report.

What are you looking for? anything that bites, or something in particular.

Nothing recent to report, but a summer or two ago I spent several days at Kingfisher, and the small mouth fishing was fantastic, alot of 8-10 inchers and a few in the couple of lb range. Trout were also very active, catching them right along with the SMB. Fishing the rocky shorlines with crawdad like cranks. evenings were by far the best times.

With a Boat hideout is not that far from kingfisher island. ( i was in a canoe, so I was somewhat limited).

CAmping a Kingfisher was so so, I would try hideout next time just to see the difference.

I'd prefer kokes or trout, but anything that would bite would be fine too.

Haven't fished kokes or bows there this year but in the past I've always picked up bows around fisher and kokes around hideout. Fished smallmouth on the 24th weekend between those two spots and it was fast and furious. Went through an entire pack of Yamo 4" double tails in about 2 hrs.

mktgw,

It's been slower lately, but you'll find kokes in either of those locations. Just watch the fish finder and when you start marking them, it's time to fish. Also try the stretch of canyon between Hideout and Carter Creek. I was there a couple of weeks ago and the bite was pretty good. Just recognize the kokes (older, larger) are prepping to spawn and on the move. A good bite in one spot one day, could be slow the next. I fished the lower canyon last weekend and most of the fish I marked and caught were between 45-60 ft. It was very patchy though. You'll probably catch some pups and bows at the same time, using the same gear. Last week I did best with a RMT dodger in hyperplaid with a orange squid trailing 10-inches behind. Pink squids are almost always productive too.

Hope that helps some, good luck, Ryno
