RIBBON-CUTTING FOR LANCASTER CITY BIKE TRAIL SET FOR MONDAY, MAY 19

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) and its local partners in the City of Lancaster and Fairfield County will cut the ribbon on phases one and two (6.8 miles) of the Lancaster City Bike Trail at 3 p.m. on Monday, May 19. The ceremony will take place at the trailhead behind Forest Rose School, 1592 Granville Pike in Lancaster.

<br>The city and 16 public and private partners collaborated to construct the trail, which will eventually connect with other bike trails in Franklin, Fairfield and Hocking counties. When all phases of the city trail are completed, it will encircle Lancaster with a 9.6-mile loop interconnecting local historic sites, parks, schools, retail areas and waterways.<br>
<br>An award of $420,000 from the Clean Ohio Trails Fund supported early phases of the project, with another $400,000 designated to aid with the final phase. The entire project is estimated to cost $1.2 million when completed.<br>
