I've never used a planner board before, and tried it last night. We were trolling at 2.7mph. The front of the board rode really high in the water, and the back was really low. See video.

My questions are...

1. Does it look like it is trolling like it should be?

2. Is the speed is was going too much for the board?

We ended up not using it, because it just did not seem like it was working very will.

Any advise on the use of these things would be greatly appreciated.

That looks about right to me.

The purpose of the planer board is to get your lure away from your boat and especially can be helpful if the fish are not very deep. If the planer board is getting your lure away from your boat, you are good to go.

It looks right to me. The trailing side can vary in how low it floats depending on what your fishing with and the trolling speed. But as long as it's still afloat and is pulling your bait away from the boat, no problem.
