Staying near Jordanelle for fall break with family. Kids begging to do a little fishing a day or 2. Any tips to maximize success for shore fishing?

One of the most effective methods is with Powerbait and sink it to the bottom. Then wait. The powerbait should float off the bottom 10-12 inches. Use a sinker.
If the fish are surfacing and eating bugs you can try fishing with a fly and bubble. Use a Royal Coachman or woolly bugger. Here is a video from the UT DWR.

You can also fish a piece of worm under a bobber.
Try casting spinners or a shiny spoon like a Daredevil.
Good luck and report your trip.
