Hello everyone. I've found this site and have been reading these forums for a few weeks now and have finally up and joined. I've only hit the ice twice this season so far, but here is my report from the weekend.

I had other obligations in the morning, so I was pretty late getting to the lake. I finally got on the ice at about 4:30. Got setup just before dark and started fishing. Fishing was slower than I expected, but it was my first time fishing this lake in the dark, so I didn't really know what to expect. I picked up 3 decent fish in about 1 1/2 hours or so. Then the heater died. [] I knew I forgot something. At that point it got pretty cold pretty quick, so I packed up and left.

Four of us from the board went out Saturday as well. We did pretty good, but that lake got HAMMERED that day. There was tons of people there earlier, but 3 fish in an hour and a half ain't bad!!

You have been on the ice twice as many times as I have so far this year. I am looking for good ice closer to home, so I can take my 3 year old grandson for his first trip. He is practicing at home with his mickey mouse rod. He drops the line in a bucket and then reals it up. Can't wait to get him to the real thing. Watch for some parties on the ice in the next few months. They are fun and you will meet some BFT members so you can put a face to a name. Merry Christmas To All And To All A Good Bite.

Welcome to the board! I have never fished much after dark through the ice. I know some people do really well at Strawberry at night through the ice. What part of the lake were you fishing and what did you catch them on?

I was fishing a couple hundred yards off the east shore, just south of the dam. I caught the first on a pink paddle bug and the other two on a white gitzit. All tipped with half a mealie.
