I know a few of you have the Accuview(spelling?), underwater camera but has anyone tried this type.

[#ff4040]I don't believe that I have ever seen that type before, but then I don't know anyone that has one either. is this something that you have bought recently or are you thinking about it?[/#ff4040]

I bought it today at Harbor Freight. They have them on sell for $99.99, plus I had a 20% off coupon. I've got 90 days to check it out, so I hope this coming weekend I'll get a chance.

i bought a welder from there that is chicago electric brand. ive had no complaints. its definately low end, but it isnt too bad. that would be cool for ice fishing. let us know how the camera works.

i think the coolest underwater camera is made for downriggers. (i think Walker makes them) i was pretty impressed with the footage shown on their website as well as the doug miller show last spring.

I saw the same footage at the Sportsman expo earlier this year, way cool but pricy.

Looks handy. Whats its recommended depth NOT to exceed?

The cable is 65 foot long, so I guess that would be the max depth. It also has night vision LED lighting, a battery and charger and the whole set up comes in a nice insulated carrying case. WH2

I have the exact same one and I love it. I bought mine a couple years ago and it works great.

I have tried it compared to the aqua-vu sport and got the same results out of both.

The only problem I have found is the distance of view when ice fishing. But that comes with most cameras in murky/dark water.

I wonder if putting an exta "underwater spotlight" on a camera would increase the visibility at all? I can whip one up pretty cheap and might try it come hard water time.

Enjoy the camera, they can be fun for all sorts of things, not just ice fishing. I use mine all year round and even out of the water. They work great at night.

[black]Both the AquaView and the Harbor Freight underwater cameras have been used in my boat. I was quite impressed with the $100 Harbor Freight one. It's only big noticable difference was the restriction of the 65 foot cable. AquaView's cable(s) go to about 200 feet I think. But that Harbor Freight one is definately worth $100![/black]

I glad to see I'm not the only owner of one of these cameras. Have you ever had a problem blowing the fuses?
Do you have any idea where can I get a replacement fuse
so I'll have a spare? thanks.

I've never had a problem with the fuse. To tell you the truth I don't even know where the fuse is or I haven't noticed it enough to rememver. I'll take a look at mine and see what I can figure out and send you a pm if I find anything out. Without looking at the fuse I'd say Radio Shack would be my first place to start looking.

I have one and have had a ton of fun with it. I bought mine about four years ago. It is alot of fun to see how the fish react to the jigging motion and see them sometimes hit the camera. It is best to be in a ice shack or something to block the outside light, sometimes it will really piss you off though because no matter what you do or use you cant turn them.[Smile]

[black]I have one of these Harborfreight Underwater Cameras and have used it on Bear Lake, it’s a hoot. The fuse looks like a regular Automotive fuse to me. Try Autozone or Checker. By the way once I put it away and stopped messing around is when I started catching the big ones. [/black]

That looks pretty cool. Where did you get your 20% off coupon?

The 20% off coupon came from one of those coupon books the kids sell every year, it's called a Gold C.

I think i'm giong to end up buying a camera, but I was just curious, can you actually drop the camera down the same hole as your jig, or do you generally drill one away from it? How far would you have to put the camera away from the jig if you do?
[signature]
The problem with dropping the camera down the same hole as the jig is that if you catch a fish it will wrap around the camera cable. If you have the camera pointed down, as opposed to horizonatal, you might get away with it down the same hole in deep water, if you have someone who can immediately pull up the camera if you hook a fish. I try to keep my camera about 8 to 10 feet away from my jig, but this all depends on how clear the water is. I try to keep it as far away as I can and still see my jig. The further the camera is away from the jig the less likely to have a fish wrap around it, and also the larger the field of view on the monitor.

I would have to say that Kent is the expert on using an underwater camera because he has been using them longer that anyone else that I know. Myself, I would use it like a fishfinder. Once I drill a hole, I would put the camera down the hole and see what was down there. If I found fish, I would drill another hole, like kent said, and see the reaction the fish have to the jig or lure that I was using. WH2

How far can your camera see in water that is pretty clear? I'm sure there are a lot of factors but in general how far does it see? And also do you have the aqua view or the Harbor Freight camera?
