scofield ice is comeing off slowley this year but still comeing off. there has been some open water for 2 weeks now.

fishing has been as good as it get's there.. 2 to 3 lbs fish almost as fast as you can reel them in..

we got there at 5:00 this evening and fished tell 7:30 we cought about 12 fish each.. took home a limit each and called it a day.. [sly]

Nice report Ron and very nice fish for 2 and 1/2 hours of fishing[cool]. If Scofield has melted that much, can the Berry be far behind?

well yesterday was the first time in the last 2 weeks we have been fishing there that we noticed the ice melting... before that i think the lake level had come up so the ice moved off shoure.. then when that last storm came through it re-iced only 1/2 thick but thats enuf to keep ya from fishing.. inless you good with rock's! lol

but yesterday we could tell the ice was melting fast! so if your asking me if the berry might be de-iceing soon i would have to yeah soon with the temp's we have been getting!..

here a pic of 4 days ago of scofields ice..

Great job, Ron!
Were you double poling it? Your picture from a few days ago looks like the rod is bending toward shore! Maybe I'll have to copy that technique to get your type of results![crazy]

By the looks of that cast you have some kind of thumb or scaphoid fracture. How did you manage that? Nice report Mr. Fuzz.
[signature]
oh yeah the towards shore technique.. well we do that so when the fish bite's we just wait tell it turns the pole and starts draging it out in the water before we set the hook! [Tongue]..

sounds funny but the way they are hitting there right now you got to keep a eye on the pole all the time or ya just might lose one real fast.. they are grabing and running with it as soon as they pick it up.. exciting fishing!![sly]

2 broken knuckls on the left thumb.. 60 mph into the rear dullie's of a big rig truck traler.. ouch.. I was lucky to walk away![Smile] my co-worker was not as lucky brock his hip in alot of places.. [unsure]

On the bright side, you have built-in fish club.

[black][size 3]Scofield being a higher elevation than Strawberry, I think Strawberry will be ice off first[/size][/black]
[signature]
Yea, that is what I was thinking, If the ice has melted that much at Scofield, it must have melted even more at Strawberry[cool]
[signature]
I have never know Strawberry to ice off before Scofield. Scofield is higher elevation but much smaller and shallower. In my experience Scofield ice's up before Strawberry and has ice off before Strawberry. Strawberry is still a couple weeks away from being ready to run the boat on full out without fear of floating ice.

[black][size 3]Sounds Like a Contest to me LOL. We will have to wait and see, it will be interesting at any rate.[/size][/black]

Looks like a great day. I have a couple days off from work and school and was going to head up there on Saturday and Tuesday. I usually soak a worm and powerbait or minnows up there. I have never been up there this time of year, is that a good set-up?

the way the ice was looking yesterday up there.. looks like this time next week there will be boats on scofield.. maybe sooner i hope.. [sly]

i did see a toon'er out on the far south west side don't know how he did tho..
