Has anyone seen the mid size lip grippers without the tape measure on them. I can find the pocket size and the big monster ones but not that nice little mid size.
thanks

I bought a small one at Cabela's last year. It does not have a tape measure on it but it does have a weight scale up to 15 lbs. It has a green handle on it and it was fairly cheep also.

I would consider my Berkley to be mid-size (I think it is the 12 inch size) and has no other features other than being a lip gripper. I have seen them at K Mart and you can order one from Cabela's.

i think i use the same one as kent is talking about. its a 12 inch berkley and is just a gripper. i got it for 29.99 at kmart and ive been surprised at how strong the grips are... and yet they are very easy to use.

These are all i can find. On Berkleys website they do not list any others. Dang I may have to get the ones with the annoying tape or the pocket size. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/prod.php?k=50521&sk=50510&p=PURBGLG2

If you're willing to go with a non-Berkely brand, there's some I've been looking at on ebay that might work:
There's one from Danielson here. It look similar to the Berkely mid-sized (w/o the tape) and has a 30 lb. scale.

It appears to be a no-name brand, but there have been a lot of them sold, so perhaps it's decent. It's got a 26 lb. scale.
I'm looking into getting one too. Let me know if you find any better deals out there!

This is the one I use. I ordered it from Cabela's last year (it's there brand) and I think it was only $20 or so. Look on the website and you should be able to find it.

Thanks for the info and the heads up guys.

Why not just order one from Cabela's?

[#002850]Since BaitCaster and I both dropped our lip grippers through ice holes at Strawberry, we needed to replace them. I was only able to find the 12" with the tape measure so I bought one. Glad I did because the tape does work great. The pocket one is too small and the long one is too long. Go with the 12" with tape. I used to see them at walmart and Sportsmans but now they are not at Walmart and Sportsmans only carry the long and the short. I finaly had to get mine from Cabela's online.
Just a side note, I sprayed WD-40 on the full length of the tape hoping to keep it from rusting out too soon.[/#002850]

A couple years ago I also donated a Lip Gripper to the depths of Strawberry. I think I will drop my retrieval magnet down to the bottom next time I take the boat out up there and see what I can find.

When you guys dropped the lip grippers, did they have a fish still atatched to them? I wonder if a fish could shake one off if they were dropped in that way. It's somewhat comon to catch a fish with another hook in its mouth but that would be strange to see a lip gripper hanging off of one!

Unfortunately, mine still had a fish attached (I was sick about doing that to a fish). There is no way that a fish could shake a Berkley Lip Grip, except remotely possible that a fish that was so large that one couldn't lift the fish with it in the first place.
