Hi everyone,
I just got back from the DAV event up at Strawberry, and thought I'd post a few pics. The vans bringing the Vets up were late and then took them to the wrong marina, so it was nearly 10 AM before we started to fish. I fished with two Korean War Vets, Joe and Jim. We started off trolling at Renegade, and Jim got a slot cutt right away on a Rapala deep tail dancer. Joe nailed a nice rainbow, but then the famous 'Berry wind started to blow. We tried to jig some suspended cutt off of Haws Point, but with the wind it was like flying a kite. We decided to troll through The Narrows and work our way back to Soldier Creek. We picked up three more rainbows in the process. Not a bad day considering that the best fishing was over by the time we got on the water.
The BBQ was awesome, and I got to meet and talk to more of the Vets. I cannot thank Cliff and his wife, and Bob Hicks, and all of the other volunteers for their efforts with this! Also, big thanks to Cablea's, Sportsmans Warehouse, Anglers Den, and Fish Tec for all of the gear they donated, plus Albertsons and Smiths for the food. I coulndn't believe the amount of gear and food that these companies donated. I hope this becomes a yearly event because I had alot of fun, and all of the Vets that I talked to were nothing but s! Fred K.
