I've been asked several times "Where did the name for the Tippy Dam Welston side stairs come from ? Heartattack Hill , are they really that bad ?"
At BFT we will answer that question .

First you catch your fish .

You exit the line .

Make your way to the first 3 flights of wooden stairs.

Once you reach the top of those .....

i had to stop three times last time i came up those darn steps..they need to put an escalator in..or at least a tow rope..that will kill you quicker then the watter

that pic of the fish looks like a tiger..is the watter playing tricks on my eyes or what

Nope , just a brown trout .
The holiday crowd gave the coffer quite a work out and this was all I was catching time after time .
I snapped one of my St.Croix rod tips on a king so it's going back under warranty replacement .
I'm down to one last rod , it's been a tough year on equipment .
In Neoprene waders it's a 2 to 3 stop trip up that hill and the heart is letting me know i'm pushing it a bit , breathable waders it's a one stop trip at the blacktop at a regular old man pace .
I'm thinking they should have a 911 call box somewhere along those stairs .

i was having alot of problems with the st .croixs breaking on me told me it was a bad batch of blanks imported from china..now i refuse to buy one..i have a new locally made one called riverside..put a one year warrenty on it ..and i cant seem to find a salmon stong enough to break it..lord knows ive tried..id be afraid to keep any salmon at tippy..i dont think i could survive draging them up them stairs..id have to call an put a ambulance on stand by before i started up em..

Those stairs are killers for sure.

You did however forget to mention the fresh slimmy, slippery egg gue coating each one of the steps during the heat of the run.

that's why I show up with a spatsula, skillet and a side of bacon, green peppers, shrooms, 3 different cheeses, onions, and taters.
[center][:p] Any one for a fishermans omlet ? [:p]
Yep , all those golded BB's and spooge all up and down the stairs , a light mist and your hanging onto that rail for dear life [Image: happy.gif].
Pressure was low at the manistee the guys from work tell me , they tried their luck at bear creek and not too many other fisherman around .

I thought you might apreceate these set of steps not far from heartatack hill, "Breaky Your Necky Hill"

no I wont disclose its location, tho you may know of it.

but if some one dose find them, I suggest rock climbing boots and gear. all are at best -15 degrees off angle and more with no hand rail...
