HeartAttack Hill
#1
I've been asked several times "Where did the name for the Tippy Dam Welston side stairs come from ? Heartattack Hill , are they really that bad ?"
At BFT we will answer that question .

First you catch your fish .
[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=52805]
You exit the line .
[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=52806]
Make your way to the first 3 flights of wooden stairs.
[Image: gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=52807]
Once you reach the top of those .....

you climb up the other flights of wooden stairs until...

you reach the cement staircase . You start up ......

and up..........

and up (there is a bench around the halfway point but I had already pased that point ).....

Finaly you reach the blacktop pathway and again , you continue up .......

and up, just above that hill is your final destonation the parking lot , that is if you haven't had a heartattack along the way .

The Welston stairs , AKA "Heartattack Hill"

Nope , just a brown trout .
The holiday crowd gave the coffer quite a work out and this was all I was catching time after time .
I snapped one of my St.Croix rod tips on a king so it's going back under warranty replacement .
I'm down to one last rod , it's been a tough year on equipment .
In Neoprene waders it's a 2 to 3 stop trip up that hill and the heart is letting me know i'm pushing it a bit , breathable waders it's a one stop trip at the blacktop at a regular old man pace .
I'm thinking they should have a 911 call box somewhere along those stairs .

Those stairs are killers for sure.

You did however forget to mention the fresh slimmy, slippery egg gue coating each one of the steps during the heat of the run.

that's why I show up with a spatsula, skillet and a side of bacon, green peppers, shrooms, 3 different cheeses, onions, and taters.

Pressure was low at the manistee the guys from work tell me , they tried their luck at bear creek and not too many other fisherman around .

I thought you might apreceate these set of steps not far from heartatack hill, "Breaky Your Necky Hill"

no I wont disclose its location, tho you may know of it.

but if some one dose find them, I suggest rock climbing boots and gear. all are at best -15 degrees off angle and more with no hand rail...
