I wanted to take my son Jacob to carey before the moss got too bad. I also took an old friend from church. We got there early and looked at the rain and thought oh great. Well it cleared up and we headed out. I headed for the "hole" first thing. We got distracted by hordes of biting perch. After talking to the Region Biologist he said keep all you can stand. It will help the population as a whole. So we kept about 30 this time. All were over 9" and a couple were in the 12" range. In one spot we could see down into the water about 8 to 10 foot. We lowered the jigs and you could see the fish come out of the weeds and go for the jigs. That was amazing. It looked like a fish hatchery.
The bad part was the friend from church only got 2 fish. We caught and released about 100 fish each. I gave him the same jigs and tubes I was using. I found out later he could not see well enough to tie on the jig. I wish he would have told me and I would have done it for him. I am thinking that might be it for me for this year at Carey. Ron

I am sooooo jealous[Wink] but Gloria & I had a great time with the grandkids at Hagermans free fishing day. I need some perch for the freezer, tomorro we have a BBQ to go to and next weekend I am cooking for the Fathers Day celebration at LCF. Maybe I can get away for a while on Saturday.[cool]

Say Ron I am finding out more about you from some people I know, all good and one of them might be a fellow worker of yours.
what this about an article you wrote?

All good? Well they must not tell the truth[Wink]
A fellow worker? Who is it?
An article? well I am not sure which one I have several in print, and several on online web pages. I did a few for hunting deer and elk. A couple for hunting with Spaniels. I did several about pack Goats, and I helped to write a chapter of a book called Practical goat packing. One of my goats was the cover picture. I did another artical about goats for a Dairy goat book, and it was about pack goats.
I have wrote a few about building Muzzleloaders. SO I am not sure which one. I am not much of a writer but I do enjoy it at times.
The last one was the april issue for Outdoor Life. The story was cut WAY down to fit the Deer Of The Year issue. Ron

Ah, so there is more to this man than Catfish[shocked]

Well a list of those online writtings would be cool.

I wonder what more there is to this fisherman/writer?

About the only stuff on the web is spaniel training pieces I wrote for a site called versatiledogs.com. Also one that still shows as a link is a story I wrote about my son and my spaniel Buzz. It was on a site called Spaniel Journal the next generation. That link looks like it doesn't work any more.
Not much more about me. Father of three, husband of 25 years. Reservist for the Fish and Game. Member of the Christian Church. I like Toyotas and Farmall tractors.
My daughter and I both have elk hanging in the Sportsmans warehouse. Not much to tell but I would like to catch the new state record catfish some day. Ron
