I wanted to take my son Jacob to carey before the moss got too bad. I also took an old friend from church. We got there early and looked at the rain and thought oh great. Well it cleared up and we headed out. I headed for the "hole" first thing. We got distracted by hordes of biting perch. After talking to the Region Biologist he said keep all you can stand. It will help the population as a whole. So we kept about 30 this time. All were over 9" and a couple were in the 12" range. In one spot we could see down into the water about 8 to 10 foot. We lowered the jigs and you could see the fish come out of the weeds and go for the jigs. That was amazing. It looked like a fish hatchery.
The bad part was the friend from church only got 2 fish. We caught and released about 100 fish each. I gave him the same jigs and tubes I was using. I found out later he could not see well enough to tie on the jig. I wish he would have told me and I would have done it for him. I am thinking that might be it for me for this year at Carey. Ron
