At least 18" of new snow in the last week. Lots of slush underneath so super tough walking with your gear. We finally get out 60 ft from shore and when trying to start the auger - the string breaks![bobmad]. Luckily a nice fellow fisherman let me use his so if you'r a bft member- thanks!! Got the shelter up in 15 mph winds and tried to start the " little buddy" and [
] my start knob breaks! So- I almost left but the hike in was such a pain I decided to stick it out. And Kent - fishing buddy- brought his heater so we used it. We finally caught our first fish after an hr- a whopper at 10"[
]. We each caught and released a few of these then at the 2 hr mark - finally a little more weight and size. To our surprise I caught koke just under 17"s!![cool][cool]. Will post my pics when I get home. Finally one worth posting in the ice fishing contest!!

Sounds like my usual fishing trips, sometimes wonder why I bother. Can't wait to see your pictures. You better get your heater working again before Satruday, its going to be cooooold.

Good to hear you guys at least got some after the issues. Kent seemed to like his christmas present.

Yes-my heater will be fixed BEFORE I head to Henry's. I'm guessing it was -10 with wind today. Only really fished our two holes INSIDE our shelter since others kept freezing within minutes. Attached are hopefully three pics of today's trip. (still haven't quite got the i-photo / i-phone thing worked out.
Kent's new toy worked great- we would have not caught the fish we did without it!

Ill be honest.......I can't believe you were fishing up there! Man was the wind and temps cold today! We burn a tank of fuel up in Blacks canyon today and the snow is deep!
But on a good note this big cold snap should make the ice thicker and more stable for all you guys headed to henrys sat.

That's a monster Koke! I'm thinking it's a winning fish which is good after all the pain it caused to get it! Congrats on hanging in there in the face of everything that happened! Did you get over deeper water to catch that Hog? We usually fish the other side of the cement spillway for Kokes. It's a real pain to get around the corner every time.

yea-we hiked out around the same place I believe. Fished in 55ft of water caught kokes at 15ft

Congrats on an awesome Koke. I haven't caught one at Island Park in years. Maybe I will have to give it another try.
