At least 18" of new snow in the last week. Lots of slush underneath so super tough walking with your gear. We finally get out 60 ft from shore and when trying to start the auger - the string breaks![bobmad]. Luckily a nice fellow fisherman let me use his so if you'r a bft member- thanks!! Got the shelter up in 15 mph winds and tried to start the " little buddy" and [] my start knob breaks! So- I almost left but the hike in was such a pain I decided to stick it out. And Kent - fishing buddy- brought his heater so we used it. We finally caught our first fish after an hr- a whopper at 10"[]. We each caught and released a few of these then at the 2 hr mark - finally a little more weight and size. To our surprise I caught koke just under 17"s!![cool][cool]. Will post my pics when I get home. Finally one worth posting in the ice fishing contest!!
