In Idaho, you can only spearfish for non-game species, what we commonly call "Trash Fish". Here is an excerpt from the Idaho regulations:

[left]You are limited to carp and suckers and the like. Some people like to eat carp. I have tried it and don't care for it.

If yo want some eatin' fish you will need to use a rod & reel.
