pandabubu, welcome to the forum and welcome to Idaho!
In Idaho, you can only spearfish for non-game species, what we commonly call "Trash Fish". Here is an excerpt from the Idaho regulations: [#25418f][/#25418f] Archery and Spear Fishing: Fishing with a bow and arrow, crossbow, spear or mechanical device, excluding firearms. This type of fishing is permitted only in the taking of bullfrogs and unprotected nongame fish and only in those waters during the season set for the taking of game fish. You are limited to carp and suckers and the like. Some people like to eat carp. I have tried it and don't care for it. If yo want some eatin' fish you will need to use a rod & reel.
