Huntington North - Still not so hot - gofish435 - 09-11-2018 I fished HN from my tube again today to see if things had picked up any since my last visit on August 31st when I only caught a couple of rainbows. I launched at the boat ramp, which doesn't have much concrete left in the water, at 10:00 and fished until 2:30. I only managed to pick up a baby bass, small bluegill, and four rainbows. I did have another half dozen rainbows on so it is picking up a little, but no wipers. I was using a fast sinking line in 18' to 25' FOW with a size 10 bead head olive soft hackle fly and a size 6 bead head tan/green/pearl crystal bugger. The water temperature was 67-68 degrees and the visibility in the water of about 4'. The reservoir level is at 42% and still going down.[:/] There was only one boat with a couple of guys fishing and a couple on their stand up paddle boards, no shore anglers. There is still too much of the real fish food in the water for the fish to get very excited about something with fur, feathers, and a sharp hook.[] [signature] Re: [gofish435] Huntington North - Still not so hot - wiperhunter2 - 09-17-2018 Well that's too bad, hopefully it will improve in the coming months as the water cools. How deep is it there by the dam? It shallows up as you go both north and south from the outlet structure. There are still portions of the reservoir that are 35' - 38' deep. They are turning more water in now so the level should start to come back up. [signature] |
