Wyoming cow Elk - 2knots - 10-17-2020

Spent the last 2.5 weeks of September trying to fill my cow/calf tag during archery season but couldn’t find a cow that would cooperate, of course the bulls just stood around and looked at me,how do they know lol. Went back out on Wednesday for the rifle season start on Thursday, went into the area we had seen elk during archery with little sign so moved into another area and connected this am on a cow. 5 hours later she was broken down and back at the truck. Was a bit over gunned with the 28 Nosler and the 25yd shot after she about ran me over lol

Nice, never over gunned when you have to shoot them in self defense, lol.

Nice going Alan, she should be good eating. It's all fun until the elk is on the ground, then the work begins, breaking it down and hauling it out. Wink
How far back in there were you?

Thanks Curt, Just over 1/2 mile, terrain was favorable and found an old skid trail that made it easier

1/2 a mile isn't bad, especially with an skid trail to follow.

No I made it very nice

I know just how you feel.  I once bought a .25-06 so I could really increase my range, still working on my first buck as a kid, and hen shot a yearling forky at 25 yards on day one.

Congrats....
