Blasting your favorite little water spot! 4-17 - TyeDyeTwins - 04-18-2012 Went to drop off my car for an oil change today. My twin saw a boil right next to the shop in a canal. Well the gear was in the car so we hit that for 30mins. My machanic said "you goin fishin? Hope you don't catch a dead body!" It smelled of paint and was nastier than the jordan but at least it was flowing! We saw another boil of a carp while we were there. I was tossing a roostertail spinner in Gold, green, and yellow while my twin threw a white strike king spinner bait. He actually got a bite. A local came by and said he caught a turtle a ways down the canal in the tralior park. He said the carp spawn is great at that spot! Classic. It was at 2700 W. and 2700 S. There was garbage everywhere on the bank and cars/trucks racing by non stop! Probley won't go back...well until the car has troubles again anyway. My grandparents used to live directly in that neighborhood behind that canal. I still live in that neighborhood and have never had the thought cross my mind to hit there. It is certainly a disgusting little canal. Kinda surprised you didn't catch a disease or a dead body. You may need to clean your gear after that trip. See you guys around. The biggest LBM I've ever seen was a dead one in next to the dike in one of my uncles alfalfa fields. It would have easily gone 8 lbs, had it been alive. Tons of carp, bullheads, channels, a few bluegill, a few white bass, and the occasional walleye. I've cast bait rigs in a couple of canals next to where I'm running a tractor and have caught quite a few catfish. Fish are where you catch them. [:p] Even if they have 5 Eyes and make Geiger counters explode. By the time the river got that far down it had been "enhanced" by lots of farms, industries and municipalities and their runoff. Many refineries and chemical plants along that abused river...and all contributing their "byproducts"...legally and otherwise.
