fireflies? - flashyfish2 - 06-22-2013 Has any one seen any fireflies lately? They are one of the things I most like about the South. I was going to take the grandkids to Goshen to check them out when this cold front rolled in. And I know they like the weather warm to hot. Any one checked them out lately? Any info. would be appreciated. Thanks [signature] Re: [flashyfish2] fireflies? - TroutBumDave - 06-23-2013 I've lived in Utah for almost 33 years and I've never seen a firefly here. In fact, I honestly thought they were not real (seriously, for some reason I just figured they were a literary thing, or something from kids cartoons) until I went to Virginia a few years back and saw my first bunch. Freaking awesome, and man, I felt dumb. [signature] Re: [flashyfish2] fireflies? - BTW-FishOn - 06-23-2013 Yes, I went back down to Goshen to see them again last Wednesday. They were not in the masses I saw them in early June, but I still saw quite a few of them. Wednesday was windy, so perhaps that is why there were not as many out. By the way, the BYU Professer I had contacted about the Goshen fireflies ended up taking a film crew with him and they did a spot, which ended up on BYU TV. Seth Bybee is the professor I had been corresponding with. Here is their YouTube Video from their trip to the Goshen ponds area: [signature] |
